Drive to Fight Against Cancer: Gumball 2017

Gumball Rally 2017

V6, V8, V12, steel and rubber on asphalt, gleaming cars screaming across the road like candied bullets shot through a machine gun rifle. A fleet of cars come together last April 2016 under the banner of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Alabang & JCI Lipa to conquer a common enemy. An enemy so insidious, that it preys on even children. Children whose call could not be ignored by JCI Alabang and JCI Lipa, children who needed help fighting for their very lives against a lethal foe… Cancer.

In the 2016 Gumball edition, a rally of cars and participants banded together to support Cancer Warriors Foundation of Batangas. From Alabang, they all drove to Summit Point Golf & Country Club Lipa to have a brunch and enjoy the program. Cars that were part of the rally: A Lamborghini and a Stingray, BMW Z4, Porsche Carrera S, Audi R8, Mercedez Benz C Class, along with the BMW E36 club and Altis Club.
The project was featured TV Patrol Southern Luzon and was televised later that week. The project was also covered by C! Magazine. The awareness for the advocacy of Cancer Warriors (i.e., curing children with cancer) was heightened among the 75 participants and the two JCI chapters, JCI Alabang and JCI Lipa.

JCI Alabang and JCI Lipa invite all car enthusiasts to this year’s Gumball 2017 on July 23, 2017, Sunday. The starting point will be in Petron SLEX and together we will drive to Summit Point Golf and Country Club, Lipa. The assessment fee is P1,000 per participant which includes brunch and a limited-edition Gumball 2017 shirt. If you want to participate, feel free to contact the project chairman, JCI Alabang Director Arfie Sta Maria at 0977-830-0977.

A-Circles: Steak 101

JCI Alabang A-Circles Steak 101

JCI Alabang had another successful event last June 23 called Steak 101 as part of our A-circles business forum. Speaker and Chef Iza Antonio taught the audience the must know about steaks; from what cut to choose, how to cook it, the proper etiquette of eating it and what wine to pair. It was a fun night of learning, eating and fellowship with current and new JCI Members.

Congrats JCI Alabang!

Titan Awards 2016

JCI Alabang bags 2 Titan Awards and 2 merit awards in the recently concluded 36th Metro Area Convention held in Malolos Convention Center, Malolos, Bulacan last September 3, 2016.
The team led by president and RVP- elect RJ Paguyo received the Highest award called the “Titan Award” for best inter organization collaboration for their Project “Gumball Rally – A Drive Againts Cancer”. The project was done together with their area 3 sister chapter, JCI Lipa, wherein they donated 20,000 to the cancer warriors foundation, a group that takes care of children with cancer. The second Titan they recieved was for Best Public Relations Program entitled “Project Spotlight”. Spear headed by their public relations commissioner Jen Fidel, the chapter was able to get a media mileage valued at 8 million pesos through Jen’s relentless efforts to advertise the chapter in various publications, websites and other media platforms.
The group also won a merit award (second place) for Best Local Organization Website. The award solidified further the media mileage of JCI Alabang because one of the chapters main goals this year was to be visible in the world wide web. Their three year old website received a total revamp this year and the team was happy that it didnt go unnoticed.
The second merit award was for Best Fundraising Program entitled Yaman Para sa Mamamayan. This year-round fund raising program not only gave JCI Alabang its “fuel” to make various projects possible, it also tapped the activiation of the members to be more involved since the program consisted of several mini projects.
JCI Alabang also ranked 4th place in JCIPEA points in the Area and ranked 8th in the National Category.
These awards and recognition would not have been possible without the hard work of its members, the Board of Directors, the sponsors and of course, our beneficiaries.

UNited4aCause in Cupang, Muntinlupa

United for a Cause part 2

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Alabang, a non-profit organization, recently concluded a medical mission at Sitio Tuklas in Cupang, Muntinlupa called “UNited4aCause” for the benefit of more than 200 people in need of medical assistance.

JCI Alabang is an organization composed of young entrepreneurs, businessmen, politicians, students, and corporate managers based in the Alabang, Muntinlupa City area with a shared vision and passion for service. In partnership City Councilor Robert Baes and his son Lester Baes, JCI Alabang is giving back to their less-fortunate neighbors in the city.

The medical mission included a feeding program, a free health check-up, and free medicines and eyeglasses. More than 200 residents availed of the services on-site, and they were warmly assisted by the three volunteer doctors and six volunteer nurses.

The medical mission was also JCI Alabang’s first project after their grand induction and turnover ceremonies last February 24, 2016. Newly-inducted members Barnie Gutierez-Alis, Vincent Yumul, and Eugene Lucas Acevedo were thrilled to have managed the day’s events.

“I am so glad that I chose to join JCI Alabang. Community service is so fulfilling because I get reminded of my humble beginnings as a child like the ones I saw today. It’s an absolutely heartwarming experience,” said Barnie Gutierez-Alis, a new member of JCI Alabang.

This event will be one of many more to come in JCI Alabang’s calendar. JCI Alabang aims to reach out to more communities in the months to come.

“Being in JCI Alabang is being about service. We are fortunate to have such gracious volunteer medical staff and of course we are ever thankful for our partnership with Councilor Robert Baes and Lester Baes. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for our chapter,” declared Eugene Lucas Acevedo, another new member.
